Convention for the restoration of democracy in Burma was held at Yishwa Yuvak Kendra, New Delhi, India, organized by former defense minister of India, George Fernandes and others including Dr. Tint Swe from National Coalition Government of the Union of Burma (NCGUB).

Honoring imprisoned journalist U Win Tin, the convention participants demanded the military regime in Burma to release him as soon as possible. On behalf of NCGUB, Dr. Tint Swe supported U Win Tin and urged Indian government to review its policy towards Burma. Indian government has been supporting the military regime by selling military hardware and speeding up its economic ties.
